Histopathology

Expert Tissue & Cytological Examination by Qualified Pathologists

About Histopathology

Histopathology is the microscopic examination of tissue biopsies and cytology specimens to diagnose diseases, particularly cancer. National Lab's histopathology department handles tissue specimens from biopsies and excisions, processing them through fixation, embedding, sectioning, and H&E staining for microscopic analysis.

Cytology services include FNAC, Pap smears, sputum cytology, and fluid cytology — offering rapid, minimally invasive diagnosis. All reports are generated by qualified pathologists with detailed clinical correlation.

Our Technology

Histopathology specimens are processed using automated tissue processors ensuring complete fixation and paraffin embedding. Microtomes create 3–5 micron sections stained with H&E for routine examination, with IHC as needed. IHC helps determine cancer type, grade, hormone receptor status, and therapeutic targets for personalised cancer management.

Frequently Asked Questions

Routine histopathology: 5–7 working days. IHC may add 2–3 days.
FNAC uses a thin needle to aspirate cells from a lump for rapid preliminary diagnosis without surgery.
Pap smear causes mild discomfort at most. It takes less than a minute and is recommended annually for women above 21 years.
